To rent a vehicle from Alaska Express Car Rental, you must meet the following criteria:
● You must be at least 25 years old. If you are under 25, a fee will apply.
● You must have a valid driver’s license in your name (international drivers must present
an international driver’s permit).
● You must provide a valid credit card for payment and a security deposit (debit cards
may be accepted with proof of return itinerary).
● Upon arrival, Ubers pick up upstairs in departures and taxis are lined up outside of
baggage claim for your convenience. The average cost including a tip is $10.00. By
taking a taxi to our location you will avoid an additional airport concession tax of 15%.
● We may pick up from local hotels nearby our office location, call for more information.
● We provide free shuttle service back to the Airport when you return the vehicle. We
also provide shuttle service to hotels within a 1 mile radius from our office location.
● A non-refundable 20% deposit of the total rental amount is required to secure your
reservation and guarantee the vehicle for your rental period.
● Deposit may be refunded within the first 24 hours after reserving.
● The remaining balance is due when you pick up the vehicle.
● Rates are based on the duration of rental and vehicle type. Additional charges may apply
for late returns, additional drivers, insurance, or special equipment (such as GPS or car
seats).
● Cancellations are allowed at any time after the reservation is confirmed.
● We offer one-way drop offs and pickups to many locations in the State of Alaska.
Additional one-way fees will apply. We can accommodate any city that is not listed while
making a reservation. Contact us for more information!
● For rentals 3 days and over, you have unlimited mileage.
● The following roads are prohibited from use:
○ North from Fairbanks-Dalton Hwy.
○ North from Dawson City-Dempster Hwy.
○ East from Carmack-Campbell Hwy.
○ North from Livengood-Elliott Hwy.
○ McCarthy Road
○ Off Limits-Elliot Hwy to Deadhorse.
As when driving your own car, we recommend using common sense when driving on Alaska roads.
Most roads are well maintained and in excellent condition. If you feel a road might damage a vehicle,
it probably will. All off-road driving is prohibited.
● The renter is responsible for the vehicle during the rental period, including any damages,
accidents, or theft.
● Drivers must abide by all local traffic laws and ensure that the vehicle is used in a safe
and legal manner at all times.
● Off-road driving and any usage outside the boundaries of public roads are strictly
prohibited unless specified as an approved activity for the vehicle type.
● Smoking in the vehicle is not allowed.
● Unfortunately, we do not offer insurance coverage for U.S. residents. U.S. residents must
provide proof of their own full coverage insurance (including Comp and Collision)
upon pick-up of the rental vehicle. The required proof is the policy number and current
expiration date.
● For international renters, purchase of insurance is required. Contact us for more
information.
● All vehicles are rented with a full tank of gas and must be returned with a full tank. If the
vehicle is returned with less than a full tank, you will be charged for the missing fuel at
an additional cost.
● Fuel charges are non-refundable.
● Additional drivers are allowed for a fee, provided they meet the same rental
requirements and are listed on the rental agreement. Fees are NOT charged for spouses.
● Cancellations are allowed at any time after reservation confirmation, but please note that the 20% deposit is non-refundable after the 24 hours from initial reservation.● Modifications to your reservation, such as extending the rental period or changing thevehicle type, are subject to availability and may result in changes to the rental rate,contact us.
● The renter is responsible for all damage to the vehicle during the rental period, including
accidents, vandalism, or theft, unless the renter has purchased comprehensive insurance
coverage.
● In case of theft or accident, you must immediately report the incident to the local police
and Alaska Express Car Rental. Failure to report the incident will void the rental
agreement.
● All vehicles are rented in good, clean working condition and must be returned in the
same condition. You will be responsible for any damage, cleaning fees, or loss of
equipment (e.g., GPS, car seats).
● Additional Fees May Apply Upon Vehicle Return for the Following:
○ Smoking in the vehicle
○ Excessive trash left in the vehicle
○ Pet hair in the vehicle
● The vehicle must be returned to Alaska Express Car Rental at the specified location and
during business hours, unless prior arrangements have been made for after-hours returns.
The rental vehicle must not be used for the following purposes:
● Towing another vehicle or trailer.
● Participating in racing, off-roading, or reckless driving.
● Transporting illegal goods or substances.
● Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
● Alaska Express Car Rental is not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage to the
renter, passengers, or third parties unless caused by the company's negligence.
● The renter agrees to hold harmless Alaska Express Car Rental and its employees from
any claims arising from their use of the vehicle.
● Alaska Express Car Rental reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and
Conditions at any time. You will be notified of any changes before your next rental.
